Caring Friends - A mid - Norfolk Cancer Charity
We offer Caring, Friendship & Support
Who are we?
We are a group of volunteers whose aim is to look after the needs of those touched by Cancer. We meet in friendship offering support.
Caring for someone close to you can be draining and time consuming, but you don’t have to be alone. We can help alleviate that sense of isolation by providing a social life that caters for those unable to find their own way to places like Bressingham Gardens, Cromer Pier, to name just two that are planned for this year.
One of the most difficult things on losing a loved one is the isolation that comes with the complete change of life. Suddenly the person you shared so much time with is no longer beside you. Caring Friends for Cancer is here to try to fill in some of the gaps in a social life, providing somewhere to chat over a coffee and biscuits. We meet each Friday in Wetherspoons between 10.30 and 1.30 and it is here you can meet our volunteers and therapists. Friendship is the support that may need to be rekindled and you are among new friends with us!
We offer therapies too, reflexology is known to relieve stress.
For more information come and see us in Wetherspoons on Friday mornings 10.30 till 1.30 or contact us on 07961 566118 or at CaringFriends@icloud.com. Also www.caringfriends.org.uk
A volunteer can make the difference to a client through simply talking out their problems with them. This can make the difference between battling a problem alone and making the problem easier to cope with.
We raise funds. These are needed for assisting with care in the home, therapies like Reiki, reflexology and we can also accompany clients to hospital appointments to provide moral support if required. We come to your your house, make you a cuppa, sit with you while your carer does the shopping. All our volunteers are fully checked so you can be completely confident in our care. We can drive you to doctor's appointments, hospital visits, be a second pair of ears to hear what the nurse or consultant says.
We hold Coffee Mornings, Monthly Social Meetings, Outings, Bingo, Craft stalls.
We meet in The Romany Rye (Wetherspoons) in Church Street, Dereham, every Friday 10.30 till 1.30, look for our sign at the door.
We were also proud to support Denver Clinton who was diagnosed in May 2018 with a rare childrens cancer, Neuroblastoma. He had two bigger brothers and a sister. We donated toys for him as he loved fire engines. Sadly he passed away on 14/2/2019. His memory lives on.
